Such silly, crazy times we are travelling through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Never would I have thought that such basic building items could become so difficult to come by, from 6×2 joists, plasterboards, insulation fibreglass battens, mastic, screws, wire, you name it..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, here we are, very much round the final bend, and heading for a final fit out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joists arrived, rockwool on order and we should have very soon (80 odd bass traps to make), Fire rated hessian rolls arrived ready for facing reflection points and bass traps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fitted some 140m of 6mm Cy cable, each piece of HiFi kit will have its very own feed and breaker in the fuse board, overkill, absolutely, but, I could so I did, and I took it as when complete overkill is just about enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final frameing very nearly complete (I had all the 6×2 left) and ended up using some 400 m of 5″ as well in substitute. In total thats well over 2Km of timber joists now, but I have built three complete walls in total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First one – stop damp\/moisture and seal and insulate. Second, soundproofing, and now, finally, the finishing wall with all the acoustic treatment, hiding cable runs, and helping make the room a really comfortable and enjoyable\/relaxing place to be. I hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Full network feed sorted from main router, then a further 8 separate feeds for the hifi \/ 8 for standard computer \/ peripheral use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also managed to get the basic acoustic measurements taken, in a completely bare room, that was ready for acoustic treatment to begin. That was a fun morning, and provided some insight as to just what is going on for now, acoustically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inbetween all of that, a trip to studio 2, Abbey Road, came to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An absolute bucket list event for me, from sitting at the piano that the Beatles used on so many albums (2 uprights, still in the same tune as then) to spending time in the very room that so many iconic albums have been recorded. Dark Side of The Moon anyone..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first glance, this actually looks ok for what is basically a wooden box with no acoustic treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will see for sure when this is turned to waterfall and some smoothing applied, but above the usual room modes (1K& above) it looks pretty ok<\/p>\n\n\n\n
