I actually enjoyed building this, as it was not overly difficult, fairly straightforward, and results were easily seen within hours.
It ate through joists like crazy, many 4.8m lengths of them. It was built on the ‘massive’ side of the scale, for a couple of reasons. It saved on cutting down lengths to 4″, and also as well, as it was immediately above a steel girder, could add massive vertical strength to the loft beams.
The first layer to the floor was ‘floated’ on Regupol rubber, a certified weight and vibration absorbing material. Minimal screws through to the floor below to maintain the ‘floating’ aspect, and kept vertical via connections at each end and the ceiling joists (whic are the floor of the loft) All of these were also via Regupol compound as well, keeping the entire wall out of contact with anything else.
Being 6″ thick, and I had no Rockwool that thick to hand, I went with using 4″ on the room side, and 2″ from the warehouse side, worked very well, where I could get to it. Scaffold needs to be in place on warehouse side to finish that part off as well as the last bit of ceiling that I cannot access due to height.
The usual really tricky parts where walls join at each end, and also a top corner to the loft which took a mere 3 days to complete and soundproof.

While building the ‘4th’ wall, continuation of lining of the wall to the ouside continued – first framed out, filled with rockwool, then f=genie Clips, Furing Channel and finally sand filled tiles.

This fun little area took 3 days of time to fill and seal correctly, so many odd angles, joints, and such a tough place to work in, 4m off the floor, on a landing area 600mm wide.
A mere 430Kg right there.

Then of course, the new settee had to arrive and I had to find room for it..
Along with the new desk (more on this later). Bit of a beast, weighing in at a mere 300Kg.
4th wall built, framed, filled with rockwool and covered with first layer of soundproofing.
Kitchen side begins to be sealed and soundproofed, ready for ‘new’ kitchen.
Fire doors arrive, ready for finishing, and then putting into place / having frames built to them.

Just the thing you need to arrive as you are literally locking up to leave. At least I have something to play with over Easter weekend 2021..
More sand, adhesive, plasterboard fill.. waiting on 54 Gyproc ‘Plank’ to arrive on holiday Monday.
